Wow, Sandy! This video and your commentary gave me goosebumps! I knew from talking with Cheryl that your dad had been a sharpshooter in WWII and also that he never talked about it with his family. I did NOT know about the medals and the German Bible. Cheryl felt that suppressing and ignoring what he did during the war damaged his health. We'll never know the answer to that. So many soldiers from that war did not talk about it upon their return to the U.S. I love the image of him turning his shooting prowess into shooting photos, not people. He was indeed a gentle man who had to do horrible things in war, but succeeded in making a peaceful, loving life afterward. I'm proud to have known and loved him.
